The village of Anmore is a cozy, rural community situated above Port Moody. Anmore's name is derived from a combination of the first settler's wife's and daughter's names, Annie and Lenore. Anmore officially became a village in 1987, and is home to the very popular summer destination, Buntzen Lake. Anmore's General Store offers canoe rentals to take down to the lake, and Buntzen Lake also consists of many horse and bike trails. Recent upscale developments places Anmore in the higher end of the real estate market. There are stil some older properties in the lower range of the market but these properties are diminishing as new upscale homes in the $1,000,000+ range of the market are becoming the norm. Anmore zoning bylaws allow for minimum lot sizes of 1 acre parcels. Only a few properties present prior to the bylaw have lot sizes smaller.

Port Moody is a popular location for families and urban professionals making the move to the suburbs from Vancouver & Burnaby. Strategically located for those commuting by car to downtown and serviced by the West Coast Express which makes the trip to downtown Vancouver in only 25 minutes. Also serviced by many community buses and express buses to downtown and Lougheed Town Centre Skytrain Station. The proposed Evergreen Skytrain Line will also have stops throughout Port Moody.

Average home prices in Port Moody are the highest of the 3 Tri-City communities. Its popularity with those moving eastward from Burnaby and Vancouver have driven prices
